Hello dear friends and family!
I apologize that it has been so long since our last post, but things got a little busy between October and January. Jack had his first birthday (I am still going to post about that), I took on a new job working in the hospitals as a newborn photographer, and oh yeah, we added 1 more to our family! Today is her 1 month birthday. I cannot believe this time has flown by so quickly. She is simply the most beautiful little lady I have every laid my eyes on. In honor of her 1 month birthday, this post is going to be full of pictures from the day she was born...
On December 28, 2011 we woke up with a great deal of excitement! "Today is the day we are going to meet our baby girl!!" It was very different from when I went into labor with Jack, since my water broke 2 days before my due date. This time we had scheduled my C-section for this most perfect day. We loaded the car the night before. Andrew woke up and went off to work as usual. I finished tying pretty pink bows on my "thank you" toffee and loaded up the cupcakes I made for our family to eat while they waited in the lobby. Jack and I hopped into the van and headed to town to see my brother and his family who had driven into Searcy in the wee hours of the morning. We waited and waited for the call to head in and decided by noon (my doctor had recommended) to be there. So Andrew arrived and he and I merrily headed off the the hospital.
When we got to the hospital, we realized today was going to be a crazy day! It was the end of the year so they were very very busy. This meant that my surgery kept getting bumped back, due to others who were emergencies. So we were very relaxed in our room, watching Food Network...which was crazy of me because I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything since 6 am. I ate an uncrustable at 4:30am and downed as much water as I could. You will see some very chapped and dry lips in the pictures to come, now you know why. Everyone patiently waited in the cafeteria and lobby.
"B" is for Baby!
Around 7:30 the prepped me and wheeled me back to surgery.
And very soon after, we met our big girl. I had no idea she was going to be so big. She had the most kissable and lovable cheeks I have ever seen on a baby. While they were getting her out, one of the nurses said "Whoa! That's a chunk!" :) I love every inch of my sweet baby girl.
Bless Big Brother's heart, by the time they were able to head back to see me, it was way past his bedtime.
Meeting my baby girl!
Her name means "Pearl". It is my favorite stone. Andrew got me a beautiful ring with an imperfect shaped pearl for my christmas/birthday/baby present. I love it so much and I look forward to passing it on to my pearl in the future. He also got her her own peal bracelet and he's putting it on before we head home.
This dress has made it's third trip home from the hospital. It was my mother's and she passed it on to me. Jack wore Andrew's coming home outfit last year, so we were excited to carry on the tradition :)
I just love this one of Layla licking Maggie's face!
Happy 1 month, Baby Girl!
